Truly, the joy of Being is unconditional or independent!
I remembered poet saint Jnaneshwar who said in his work, Amrutanubhav :
“The joy of being is like a waving flag on the battlefield which is not concerned about who is the victor and who is the loser. It just continues to wave with the joy of being! Likewise, the Yogi also continues to perform his actions (waving) being in his own Joy. Not concerned about the outcome of his actions.
Although the wind is always moving in the sky, the sky remains unmoved because of it. Likewise, the Yogi remains unmoved although the thoughts, or world of form keeps moving.”
Here, waving is as important as unwaveringly. This unwavering determination to act (wave) is dependent on my faith (shraddha). If I place my faith on a person, I wave as per his tunes. I do whatever he tells me to do. If I place my faith on the “right” person (Guru), I am done. Like Arjuna who placed his faith on Krishna and waved unwaveringly to be a victor in the battlefield of Kurukshetra!
I may decide to place my faith on ShAstra (science). In this case, I tend to act as per the laws. If I place my faith on Dharma (humanity), I act with compassion. Some place faith on practicality and act in the realm of feasibility and convenience. And so on.
In a nutshell, I cannot live without faith. It is Shraddha that inspires me to act. Gita says, there’re 3 types of Faith, Sattwic, Rajasic and Tamasic. Depending on my Swabhava (Nature), my shraddha also varies accordingly.
I have a strong faith in the Uncertainty. This uncertainty inspires me to act in the Now. It’s always full with the Unknown. As St. Paul says, “faith is the evidence of the things unseen”. Not just mere beliefs.
O uncertainty, I submit all my deeds, and their outcomes (profits or losses) to you. I enjoy everything you give to me. I enjoy being with you. Moment after moment. I do not “prefer” any outcome as I am open to your limitless possibilities and not at all concerned about the probabilities. I consider myself always safe, secure and lively in your hands. You keep my curiosity intact all the time. And at the same time, you allow me to be content with whatever I have.
As Adi Shankara says:
न मोक्षस्याकाङ्क्षा भवविभववाञ्छापि च न मे
न विज्ञानापेक्षा शशिमुखि सुखेच्छापि न पुनः ।
अतस्त्वां संयाचे जननि जननं यातु मम वै
मृडानी रुद्राणी शिव शिव भवानीति जपतः ॥
I have no desire for Liberation, nor do I desire Wealth or Knowledge. I no longer desire to enjoy these worldly comforts again. I beg you O Mother, that my whole life may pass in singing your holy names.
This holy Mother, to me, is Uncertainty! And I wish to continue waving unwaveringly with her. Perpetually!
