A person surrenders to the Police. I hate the usage of word surrender here. The better sentence could be “A person accedes to the Police”. The feeling of powerlessness, to some, might be a gateway to Surrender. And indeed, most of the Gita commentaries were written in the prison (Mahatma Gandhi, Vinoba Bhave, Bal Gangadhar Tilak, etc). But, to me, this might not be His preferred way to earn a surrender. The surrender cannot be won through exerting power over someone.
Through power, allegiance/loyalty can be won, enslavement can be won, a secular commitment can be won. But at what cost? At the cost of helplessness, anger, discordance, discontent and unhappiness in the people who are won by use of Power.
Why would Consciousness or God use power to make me surrender? Certainly not.
The only way to win one’s surrender is through Love. And what’s surrender? It’s love itself. Voluntarily releasing control yet feeling powerful. Surrender has to make me feel powerful. Power is the slave of Love. Surrender has to make me loving and caring. Surrender is nothing but unconditional love for Him, for His children, for everyone!
Through Love, what else can we expect to win? Love begets love.
