Shri Paramahansa Yogananda describes Draupadi as a force Kundalini . It rises up from Muladhara chakra to Vishuddhi chakra.
I would like to offer my interpretation of Draupadi particularly in regards to her disrobing by Duhshasana. He represents desires who rule the mind and body. Desires are very difficult to rule. In fact they rule us. That’s why the name.
As long as we are ruled by desires, we are disrobed by them. Clothes are for our protection. They also connote a sense of respect. They signify orderliness and beauty. And they are something we need.
Desires disrobe us, or strip us of all the things we need. They take off our protection (composure) by making us more and more vulnerable, prone towards being attacked, damaged. No one, however powerful, can help us there. Not Dronacharya. Not even Bheeshma.
When Draupadi truly surrenders and calls Krishna from the bottom of her heart, her protection (calm demeanour), her needs, her respect, her orderliness (perfection) and beauty are restored. It’s a total unconditional surrender to the only Lord Krishna (Ananya Bhava).
When I think only about Him all the time and ask nothing in return, he provides me with all things I need and protects me from all dangers.
अनन्याश्चिन्तयन्तो मां ये जना: पर्युपासते | तेषां नित्याभियुक्तानां योगक्षेमं वहाम्यहम् ||
Shri Krishna Himself emphatically proclaims in Gita:
Meaning, There are those who always think of Me and engage in exclusive devotion to Me. To them, whose minds are always absorbed in Me, I provide what they lack and preserve what they already possess.
